We offer two methods of delivery for this course and these are:
Professional Investigator’s 5-Day Course
The 5 day course (which can be split over a number of weeks or months) contains direct tutor contact taking the candidate through a number of engaging case studies and interactive activities. The course guides candidates through the Investigative Cycle – Plan, Gather and Report but also covers in great detail other aspects that commonly fall in to the remit of the Investigator’s role – such as legislation and best practices. Our experienced tutors will deliver the course using a combination of presentations, activities and case studies, student notes all to a structured series of lesson plans.
Distance Learning Course and Workshop
This delivery model includes case studies and activities divided into segments for completion by the candidate and ran in conjunction with on-going contact with a tutor. The course is designed to enable the candidate to self-learn, and caters for candidates with an inquisitive mindset or for current investigators. When the activities are finished, candidates attend a 1 day workshop where their work is discussed and key points are reinforced. An additional workshop is available to go through more practical skills such as interviewing and surveillance.
For both models, assessment is by two multiple choice examinations (one for each unit) and a portfolio of evidence.
Each multiple choice examination contain between 20 and 25 questions to be completed in 45 minutes with the portfolio internally set and externally quality assured. The multiple choice examinations are carried out under exam conditions and a full SIA Identification check must be completed.
Recognition of prior learning and operational experience can be taken into consideration and with evidence provided and a review conducted the number of days training can be reduced if we deem it appropriate and acceptable (this is on a case by case basis).
This course is delivered at our dedicated training facilities throughout the UK, but can also be delivered at your premises for group bookings.
